The kit includes the spring loaded tester (Q60033), AND the Machined Metal Tip for testing the Dacron fabric. This tester was developed by the Quicksilver engineers specifically for the 3.8oz. dacron.
I do not know if you can use this to test the skin on your J-3 Cub…..sorry
